About the Mountain

During the Korean War and WWII, a Lookout Tower was built and manned to keep an eye out for enemy planes. Locals were trained and became a strategic part of the United States of America's Air Defense System before the use of Radar Systems.

Local families and children loved using Langdon Mountain and the Shea Property for their own adventures, including games of hide & seek, bang-bang, capture the flag, hunting, fishing, hiking, exploring, and overnight camping.

Snow is Here!!

Although the snow may cover the woods, the trail signs are still visible! All Trails lead to the top of Langdon Mountain. Explore your sense of adventure and imagine what it was like to hike "up the mountain" to staff the Tower during WWII. Search for animal tracks and/or listen for the sounds of winter in Maine. *Use extreme caution on stream crossings.
